As of last night, January 25, 2010, CNN reported that 1 million children have been displaced by the earthquake. Barricades are placed in the street to cordon off sleeping areas for children. 250,000 children had been sold in to domestic servitude prior to the earthquake that number is sure to rise. Hospitals are very concerned of children being taken and are taking every precaution to account for each and every child in their care. For now, adoptions should stop until the child's status can be determined. A child welfare system has been mentioned to help with that daunting task.

Haiti Orphan Relief Envisioned
When you see the images and the faces of the children in Haiti, I ask myself who is giving them a voice? Who is keeping them safe? Who is feeding them and meeting their basic needs? The children know nothing of past politics or corruption. They are the innocent ones looking at the caios of their world through the eyes of their soul.
I am drawn to help but how I prayed? The surest way to make sure money and supplies arrive in the hands that need them is to take them ourselves. So we go and you will go with us. We will be the arms and feet for you to share in the experience and to know that your help is going where it was slated to go. To the children of Haiti who are most in need.
I had contemplated a trip this Spring to celebrate my next birthday. It all seems so insignificant now. So we will be leaving March 18 and staying for 5 days. Not sure as to where we will fly into as searches for air travel to Haiti are resulting in diverting flights to the Dominican Republic. As the departure date gets closer, I am sure it will become clear.
